At this year’s Decor & Design show, a familiar yet enduring theme continued to shape the conversation, one of comfort, calm and a deeper connection to the natural world. While not a new direction, this ongoing shift is still very much a response to the way our lives and our homes, have evolved in a post covid world.

As we continue to navigate complexity and pace in our everyday lives, design is offering a counterbalance. The focus remains on slowing down, grounding ourselves and creating spaces that feel warm, reassuring and authentically lived in.

1. A Return to Warmth

Gone are the cooler, more clinical palettes of recent years. In their place, we’re seeing a return to traditional, earthy tones that create an immediate sense of comfort. Colours like sage green are leading the way evoking stability, calm and a gentle connection to nature. This soft, muted hue brings a nurturing presence, quietly grounding us within our homes.

Paired with natural textures and tonal layering, this shift toward warmth is being embraced across colour schemes, furniture finishes and styling details. Earthy browns, muted terracottas and creamy neutrals are working together to create spaces that feel lived-in, inviting and emotionally resonant.

2. Soft Shapes & Sculptural Curves

Organic, sculptural forms are also making a strong statement. From curved joinery to sculptural bedheads and arched mirrors, these shapes introduce movement and softness, adding visual interest without overwhelming the space.

We’re seeing this echoed in everything from lighting to couches, where curved silhouettes are used to guide the eye and enhance the overall flow of a room. These shapes not only look beautiful, but they also contribute to a sense of ease and approachability.

3. Mid-Century Moments

Mid-century modern design is enjoying a new wave of popularity but with a contemporary twist. Think subtle timber finishes, minimalist lines and functional pieces that double as sculptural art.

Creams, walnut tones and clean profiles nod to the era, but they’re now being softened with layered styling, natural textures and modern finishes. The result is a look that balances nostalgia with relevance; it's timeless yet very much of the moment.

4. Furnishings that Invite You In

In a time where people are seeking comfort and stability, the way we approach soft furnishings is shifting. No longer just finishing touches, items like cushions, throws and upholstery are becoming showpieces drawing you into the room and setting the emotional tone of the space.

From oversized boucle sofas to textured linens, these elements are designed to feel warm, grounding and tactile. It's part of a broader movement toward spaces that feel nurturing and considered, where every detail is chosen not just for how it looks, but how it makes you feel.

We’re excited to see how these ideas continue to shape the way we design and live in 2025 and how they’ll be interpreted in the unique, personal spaces we create for our clients.
